I found this near Hartlepool in October 2012, manufacturing date unknown, signed on the back Alison Dunn Cromarty. It is approx 10" long x 5 1/2" wide x 1" deep. Slightly crazed on the surface and still in very good condition. Would be curious to know a bit more about it such as the design and date. Could provide a photo of the plain white signed reverse if anyone wanted to see it.

Thanks Paul. Not seen one of those for many years. At a guess this dates from the early 1970s, as that shape of plate wasn't used much after about 1975. The design was created using a 'wax resist' technique where the plant silhouettes were painted onto the plate in liquid wax, then the blue background and dark leaves painted in colour over the top. The wax 'resisted' the colour so that it wouldn't stick to the plate where already painted with wax, leaving the white base colour of the dish to show through.
