Love this photo - can you tell me Gaffer Mackenzie's full name and any other information please. Thank you Maggie Mackenzie-Goodman Comment left on 13 January 2007 at 00:35 by Maggie Mackenzie-Goodman
Gaffer's name was Alexander Mackenzie, son of Colin and Margaret Mackenzie. After leaving school he worked with his father in the family business, Colin Mackenzie, Mason Contractors, joined the RAF in the second world war and then became Clerk of Works for the Water Board until he retired. He was a stalwart of the Cromarty drame club and organised many concerts performed in the Victoria Hall. Helen Hogg and Babs Mackay will have memories of these days. This photo was taken when Uncle Alistair was in the Cromarty Pipe Band, he was the drummer. Comment left on 03 May 2008 at 16:40 by Jane Patience
Thanks Jane - it's just the best photo, I love it. I'm sorry he is not one of our Mackenzie's.

His name was Alastair MacKenzie (Gaffer). Not Alexander. I used to stay with him and my aunt Margaret in the summer holidays. My great granny also stayed with them. Comment left on 22 March 2015 at 09:40 by Donald Baddon
Sorry Donald but Uncle Alastair was Alexander on his birth certificate. He was named after his mother's father an Alexander McLean. He was my mother Bab's brother and I have completed a Family History on the Mackenzies and the Mcleans. Comment left on 07 October 2020 by Jane Patience
