Upload a Picture

We're always keen to receive new pictures for the archive, but please read the notes below first.

Copyright

The picture must have been taken by you or you must have the express permission of the copyright holder unless the picture is old enough to be out of copyright.

Whether a picture is old enough is complicated but as a rule of thumb if the photo was taken more than 80 years ago then it's likely to be out of copyright.

Uniqueness

Use the search facilities in the Tools section of the site to check that your picture hasn't been uploaded before. If possible we don't want duplicates as it's best to keep all descriptions and comments on one page.

Relevance

We're looking for interesting pictures - ones showing people, buildings and events etc. There are lots of places to post beautiful sunsets but unless it has something really unusual, we'd rather not have them here.

Also, make sure the image has some relevance to Cromarty. It doesn't have to be of the town itself - it might be a picture of someone who used to live here, a postcard sent from here or something to do with HMS Natal (which was lost nearby). They're all great. But please don't spam us with irrelevant images.

Format

We currently only accept jpeg images with the suffix .jpg or .jpeg. Don't worry if it uploads the wrong way up - we'll sort that out before publishing it. We like images to be at least 1200 pixels wide, but if only a smaller version exists then we're happy to receive it. There's no maximum size.
