Satellite pics are becoming much more accessible on the internet nowadays. This is a screen shot from one showing Cromarty at pretty high definition from the Windows Live website - see the link below. You can zoom in quite a bit more.

This particular image seems to have been taken around 2000, before the boat club compound was built. It also seems to have been an evening in April or May - the ferry is beached beside the harbour for maintenance.

The little green dot on the beach beside the harbour in front of the Royal is the Ferry, beached for her annual paint and service.
