Cows on the Sewage Farm Road making walking access difficult and hazardous
Since the track was made out to the new sewage farm a few years ago, the circular 'Targets' loop has become a very popular route for walkers and their dogs. Unfortunately, since the field was taken over for sheep and cattle this summer, the problem of cattle straying onto the track and blocking access has become fairly common. Many walkers don't feel that this route is now safe to walk with their dogs, and at least one lone walker (without dog) has been chased by the cows. The problem is certainly not helped by the gates between the track and field being rather flimsy, or on occasion, completely absent. Its a pity that this walking area is now proving too hazardous for many local people to enjoy.
The track is also used several times a week by Scottish Water staff working at the sewage farm, and as they have to open the gate for vehicle access, this must be difficult for them too, especially where they are inexperienced with livestock and find it intimidating.
