Its a pity no one has seen pics such as this one who might still be able to put some names to faces as it won't be long before there will be no hope as the years go by.

Well for a start, 2nd from the right on the 2nd row would appear to be Provost James Reid from picture #321.

I took one look at this photo and said, "Gosh, there's Stuart Spence." I'm sure that's him, third from the right in the second row, with Mrs. Spence beside him. The Spences farmed at Farness. He and my grandfather, Alec Guise, were "mud students" who came to Farness to gain some practical farming experience. Thomas Middleton, who then farmed there, had two daughters. Stuart married the eldest daughter Katharine (Kate), and Alec married Elizabeth (Elsie).

Garve, I agree it is Provost James Reid 2nd right, 2nd row. My Mother is convinced the younger man on the far left in the blazer and white flannels is her Father James Reid junior, in 1925 he would have been 38, Mother would have been aged 7, now aged 87 she is not the most reliable witness, so unless anyone knows different it's my Grandfather James Reid in the blazer and white flannels holding his hat. Provost Reid was also the Treasurer and Secretary of the club at sometime, wether that's his claim to being in the picture is a question. He does not look very "tennis" does he? Apparently my Mother and Father did their courting at the Tennis Club gate too! The things one learns from pictures on this site!

Is the man on the extreme left Dr. Middleton? Any opinions?

My father has identified a few more. Back row third from left is possibly Tom Cox. Back row far right is possibly Robert Urquhart (Butcher), in front of him is Harry Munro (Policeman) in front of him is "Chippa" Bain (Draper) and seated in front of him is Lady Ross. Also seated on the ground centre front is possibly Mr. Malcolm (Headmaster). Is it possible that much of the group is made up of a visiting team?

Gentleman on the extreme left is Doctor Middleton, Davidston, the late Jonathan's father.

I have a copy of this picture, and my mother wrote on the back"Opening of Cromarty Tennis Club." She added the following names, but I can't make out where they fit: Nancy and Jean Graham, Lady Ross, Dr. Johnstone, Sir Ross.

I think Dr Daniel Johnstone is the man with the bow tie seated (behind Mr Malcolm), perhaps his wife is beside him. I think picture 22, with younger members of the club, was taken at the same time as this one.
